OK so I'm new to owning a fish tank (I have a lot of info about fish so don't say stuff like "did you cycle your tank?" "you need a heater"...etc).Anyways, I just bought some new decor for my 20 gallon tank.And I was wondering if I had to take out the decor and fake plants when I make a water change, to clean them? And if so how do I clean them? And how often?
Well they actually also have some poop and stuff on them soo....?

Just move them around and do not clean them. THey have good bacteria on them once you've cycled your tank.

Question by jj: When can I add fish to a tank?
I currently have a 2 gallon fish tank with a air pump and heater. Currently there are two ghost shrimp in there and I plan to get a betta fish soon.

The tank is about 3 days old. I added tap water with "water conditioner" and also "bacterial suppliment." I also put fish food in there...

The "heater" is actually the light on the tank and it keeps it at around 78F, do I have to buy a actual heater?

So: Can I go out and buy a Betta fish now and put it in the tank?
It has a "under gravel filter."

I will buy a heater when I get the betta.
I also live in California.

Temp right now with lights off is 76 degrees F. (It's currently "winter")

I just bought a miniheater that's suppose to raise the temp 5 degrees, which is perfect for bettas I believe.

Now I'm worried about if I need any kind of other filtration system besides the under gravel one.

You need a heater. The light wont be on the entire time, and will change the temperature when it goes off. Very unhealthy for a fish. You need a heater, so you keep a constant temperature.

It would be best to wait a few weeks to make sure everything is in line.

Well, you said you have an air pump, what about a filter? Air pumps are useless compared to filters. Without one, you cant have any fish.

Question by Rhea: Under the tank heater for a fat tailed gecko?
There are so many under the tank heaters on the web that I am confused as to the best one for my gecko.
Most of the care pages I've found say to have a max temperature of 95 degrees F on ONE side of the habitat, with the other side at room temperature.
So my question is;
What's the best under the tank heater for the cheapest price?
Should I have her hiding place or her water dish on the warmer side?

The cheapest I've found so far is the "Four Paws Natures Heat Under Tank Heater" on several websites but I honestly can't find any reviews or specs for it.
Thanks for any help!

Question by Lisa: is a 100 watt heater safe in 2 gallon tank?
is it dangerous to have a 100-watt heater in my 2 gallon aquarium? It is only heats the water to about 75degrees. The box says "for 2-15 gallon aquariums". It is a "tetra submersible heater". It is SUPPOSED to heat the water to 78 and there is "no adjusting necessary".

there are NO fish in this tank. i am looking to house a betta in it soon, and would love suggestions for a SAFE small heater, with lower watts that can keep the temperature at 80 degrees. the temperature in my room fluctuates all day. so keeping it STEADY is important.

The Hydor mini heater is meant for 3-5 gallons, and would be much safer than the 100W. If the tetra heater were to malfunction it could overheat your tank.
